What is in a Name?

It is a daunting task to name something.

A new puppy

A child

A company

So much of an identity is captured in a name so you want to make sure you get it just right. Naming Ginuine Creativity was more difficult than naming my children. You see, I wanted to make sure it captured the true essence of what I was creating, while remaining memorable. After many attempts hitting the trash…..Ginuine Creativity stuck (thank you Heather for your creativity).

But now that it has a name….what does it mean. Creativity was a given….my goal is to inspire creativity…whatever that looks like for you.

But Ginuine….what does that even mean?

Is that even a word?

Ginuine began on the foundation of Genuine. This new venture is a reflection of my genuine self, my authentic self. It is a space for me to be who I truly am and share my gift of creativity with others. And it is no secret we played off of the spelling of my name. Those closest to me have always used “Gin” as my nickname…and truthfully, I LOVE being called Gin! It is also a play on words….for my adult following, if you break it down, it is = Gin (that’s me) + U (that’s YOU) + Wine (aka Liquid Creativity) = Ginuine. This is reflective of what we do. Me + YOU + WINE and your creativity unleashes! Ask anyone that has spent some time in the Ginuine Creativity Studio for an adult event….and most likely there was a bottle of wine (or two….I won’t tell).

So WHY didn’t I name it Gin-U-WINE, like was on the initial whiteboard…..because I adore kids and I spend half of my business on kids…running workshops, hosting parties or creating custom inspirational gifts for kids….and I was NOT comfortable putting “brough to you by Gin-U-WINE Creativity on items focused on kids. Plus, I didn’t want to lose the foundational meaning of genuine and authentic. I want all that spend time with Ginuine Creativity to discover their genuine, authentic selves. To unleash their creativity, even when they tell me they don’t have any. Ginuine Creativity will show you, you do have Creativity….and together we will uncover it and set it free!

So what is in a name?

Genuine . Authentic . Inspiration . Creative (sometimes fueled by wine;)
